They Like Me, They Really Like Me!
Saturday, April 30th, 2005Friday was probably my last day of substitute teaching for the year. Two reasons behind that: 1) I have a new temp job doing data entry for 3 weeks, and 2) Springfield Public Schools only have 20 more days left. But I will say this - my last day ended on a positive note. So it’s probably no fun hearing about how great first graders can be, and how smart they were and well behaved, and it’s probably not fun to hear that the 3rd grade class I normally sub for all came up to me and hugged me and gave me high fives, so I’ll just leave the conversation of the day from one of the first-grade girls. Here you go:
Girl: Can I have your phone number?
Me: Why would you want my phone number?
Girl: Because I want to call you this weekend so we can hang out. You’re cool.
Me: Uhhhh…..
Dismisal bell rings.
Me: When I wake up in the morning and the clock lets out a warning, and I don’t think I’ll ever make it on time…by the time I get my books and I give myself a look, I’m at the corner just in time to watch the bus slide by. But it’s alright…because I’M SAVED BY THE BELL!
Also, I may post some beautiful drawings I received during my 6 days (or so) of substitute teaching. My new favorite is named (by me) Nicole with the Hairy Neck. Keep an eye out for it.
