Moxie Cinema Announces Its Grand Opening

Springfield, MO, August 30, 2005: The long awaited opening of Moxie Cinema, located downtown at 408 West Walnut, is just around the corner. After overcoming several unexpected obstacles, the owners, Dan and Nicole Chilton, have announced a grand opening date of Wednesday, September 21, 2005.

The Moxie plans to open with two new films, which will be announced later in September. Monthly calendars will be available at the theater and around town, detailing specific show times and dates. Admission prices will be $8 for general admission, $6.50 for seniors and students with valid ID, and $5 for matinee shows. Tickets will only be sold the day of the show.

To help celebrate this announcement, The Moxie will be hosting an open house on Friday, September 2, 2005, from 7 pm until 10 pm. The Chilton’s will be serving complimentary popcorn and offering tours for those interested. Artists Jennifer and Olof Pierson will also be displaying a new exhibit of their work in the Cinema’s gallery.

Another pre-opening opportunity that the owners are offering is Moxie Founding Memberships. These memberships allow local film enthusiasts to “take a seat” at the Moxie. For $500, they receive their name on one of the Moxie theater chairs; free movies for the first year, with discounted prices every year after that; free small popcorn with their movie; one free on-screen ad per year (perhaps to wish a friend Happy Birthday); invitations to Founding Member-only events; and special Founding Member appreciation party before The Moxie’s grand opening.

These memberships will only be offered once, and in an extremely limited quantity. The offer has been extended until The Moxie’s opening event.
