A Monster Post

Happy (early) Halloween! It’s not like I exactly need an excuse to make loads of food for people, but Halloween seems to fit the bill perfectly. Saturday we made “Meat Head” for a group of friends, plus a few other ghoulish delights. My friend Whitney made a zombie cake (red velvet with dark chocolate trees and bloodied stumps), plus we had mulled wine, swamp sangria, pumpkin cake, and ailing pumpkins. Pictures below!

Besides food decorations, I didn’t do too much. Gold spray-painted bones were our table centerpiece, and then we draped the entire apartment in bed sheets for an “abandoned house” effect. Spiderwebs, orange lights and a fog machine graced our already creepy stairwell, and our loft was lit only with candles. As far as costumes go, Dan made his own Where’s Waldo costume, and I was “Oh shoot, I’m not ready for the party yet!” and wore my bathrobe and hair curlers. I don’t think I fooled anyone, though.

Around 1am we went down to South Avenue to check out the Pub Crawl madness. And it was pretty crazy. We saw sexy nurses, sexy referees, sexy Pocohantas, sexy Hooters girls, and plenty of crazy Britney Spears…and now I’m going to be inundated with spam from typing the word “sexy.”
