From the Archives, Part II

I know it’s atypical for people to post blog entries on a weekend. But I’ll be working tomorrow, so I thought I’d get a jump start on the week. And as promised, here’s another journal entry from 1990:

Today at 3:00, I am going to get my hair cut. I want a bowl cut but my mom won’t let me. I wish I had all the money in the world to spend on clothes, houses, horses, land, toys, you know what I mean. One of my biggest wishes is a computer. I would sit and play with it for years. That or a typawriter. I would probably do the same thing. I still have a cold and it anoys me! Were going to a trip to Alabama & I don’t, simply do not want to go. Aunt Estell changes in front of me and it bothers me. I just don’t want to go. I’m uncomfertable and every time I go there I get homesick. I just don’t tell anyone. I bet Steph looks in this to find out stuf she dosn’t know about me. Right now it is 2:26 and I’m all alone becaus about 1 hour ago, evrey one went bowling but me. I’m just not in the mood. I’ve got a 10 pounder & its hard to use when you havn’t bowled in awile. My highest game is a 95.

My haircut turned out ok. it wasn’t the best but it was good. Today I spent 20 bucakaroos on a game called Scattogorie & Steph didn’t even pay a penny! I found out the other day that Lainie wears her sister’s bras. I guess I’ll call it a night. So long.

Ah. The deep inner workings of a 9-year-old. And I still have Scattergories. I guess it’s worth it’s 20 buckaroos if I’ve had it for this long!

If you still want a bowl cut, I’ll pay for it.

I love the fact that your family took bowling outings and you had your own ball. Reminds me of the show Roseanne.

  3. Nicole Says:

Oh it gets better, Jayna. We were all on bowling leagues!

What an intelligent little 9 yr. old you were! I never knew that kids that age actually WANTED bowl cuts! But then again, I’m sure you weren’t the “average” kid. I had a diary when I was 9 also, but I wrote nasty things in mine.

It’s funny that Lainie wore her sister’s bras. I was friends with her sister once upon a time…

  6. nicole Says:

Ah, Lainie. I miss that girl. Do you or Becca know where she’s at these days, Liz?

  7. Elizabeth Says:

Becca might. I’ll ask her tonight.

So you paid for Scatagories. I paid for our first car.

I don’t know where she is. She was still going to UGA when I graduated. I think she was living with her boyfriend - some guy with an earring and big muscles. She came over one night right after Ethan was born, but I haven’t heard from her since.

I love absolutely love when you post these.

That was just the sweetest entry! I think you took us all back to our childhoods with that. Funny, though. When I was 9, a computer took up an entire room and had vacuum tubes in it…
