A List of Sorts

Being a small business owner has its ups and downs. This week I’ve definitely experienced some of the “down” sides. Maybe it was the recent full moon? Or unseasonably warm fall? Or the bloody nose that lasted all day? I don’t know. But just in case other people are feeling kind of crummy, here’s a list of things that might brighten your day (well, at least they brighten mine!):

  • The Well Fed Head Short Story Competition. Rumor has it, one of the judges at our local bookstore’s inaugural competition is a fairly well-known published author (he’s HUGE in the UK), with movie adaptations aplenty in his repertoire!
  • A Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake Recipe I found online…deee-licsh! I’ve made it twice now. And have subsequently eaten almost the entire cake twice. My baking tip: use White Chocolate Pudding mix instead of Vanilla.
  • Chandon Sparkling Etoile Rose Cuvee is a tasty rose sparkling wine I had at the Ozarks Public Television’s Wine and Food Celebration. It was tingly and dry and oh so good. I also had a glass of Veuve Cliquot, and a glass of Frey organic and biodynamic pinot noir that wasn’t too shabby. Not shabby at all, in fact. Mmmm. Free wine. For lunch.
  • GREAT WORLD OF SOUND, a really cool film we’re showing in a couple weeks (Nov. 23 - 25), has the funniest website ever. Click here to check it out. I don’t know if it’s all that great without seeing the film first, but I laughed and laughed. Hint: turn your sound on.
  • Target’s new bamboo-and-cotton blend sheets. They are amazing! Dan and I can’t get out of bed in the mornings, because they’re so soft and warm. We got ours in mint green, and I think I might go back and buy another set in the orange-y color. You know, to switch things up a bit.
  • Dan was interviewed in the Wall Street Journal! The WSJ called and talked to Dan! Bahhh. The story is about the state of documentaries during this year’s Oscar race. As soon as it’s published, I’ll post a link. This is probably the biggest publication to write about the little ol’ Moxie, so that’s kind of exciting.
  • The poster for PERSEPOLIS, a new film from Sony Pictures Classics, adapted from the best-selling graphic novel. I’ve never read it, but it’s been on my list for quite some time now, and I can’t wait for the movie.

I had a few more things, but they’re all food related, and I didn’t want you to think that all I think about is food…even though it’s mostly true…err…

Have a good week!
